Only half of us exists while we make decisions or ponder alternatives.

Only half of us thinks about the day's menu, the next school day or when to pick the children up from day care.

The other half is made to move. It is made to run, jump, extend its arm and turn its gaze. We have never been just talking heads, but whole people - people, to whom movement is as natural as breathing.

In FSF we work every day to connect each one of us to our own bodies, our beating hearts and the blood pounding in our ears. We provide services, safeguard interests, sit at the same table with decision makers and help all our members in their activities towards this goal.

Our goal is a Finland where everyone has an equal opportunity for physical activity over their entire lifetime, where everyone can find their own way to exercise and practice sports and become him- or herself - a whole person.

Finnish Sports Federation

A non-governmental sports federation
Founded in November 1993
Serves as an umbrella organisation for all of its member organisations
Includes over 130 member organisations, the membership of which totals over 1,1 million Finns.

The Purpose of FSF

Supports the diverse activities of membership organisations and the people active in them
Represents Finnish sports organisations on the national and international levels
Increases the civic activity around physical activity and, through this, the well-being and health of citizens, improves the quality of life and promotes equality in general and equality between the sexes in particular
Supports the whole population in being physically active and promotes Finnish competitive and top-level sports.

Finnish sports operate

On the local level – 9 000 sports clubs and other local organisations
On the regional level – regional organisations and the regional organisations of the member organisations
On the national level – national member organisations, FSF Board of Directors, FSF Office and FSF Service Unit.
On the international level – international organisations in co-operation with the FSF national members

VEIKKAUS (Finnish National Lottery) cooperates with FSF

The sports organisations receive state aid, which secure sports opportunities for all Finns and especially for families
Approximately 130 million euros from Veikkaus’ profits is annually directed to sports over the Ministry of Education.
Sports betting make up one third of Veikkaus’ turnover.
